ATTENTION DOWN SOUTH SHOPPERS!
Credit Card information now Protected!
Oxford (March 5, 2009) - Anyone who has ever gone online and made a purchase with their credit card has nervously wondered, "Is my credit card information protected from prying eyes?"
"The simple answer to that is yes," says Keith Sisson, marketing guru for the Down South Comic Strip.
"Anyone who shops on our website can feel perfectly comfortable making credit card purchases," he said. "Our customer's privacy is a very important concern and we make sure it's encrypted during the transaction process so it can't be seen or intercepted by anyone."
On the Down South site, customer information is protected by what's called Secure Sockets Layer technology (SSL). SSL protects a website's online store customers from having their credit card or personal information intercepted by a third party. This makes it easier for shoppers to trust that their information is protected.
"A website is considered secure when it is 'SSL certified'," Sisson went on to say. "Ours is fully certified and provides a level of encryption to protect every customer."
That encryption contains unique, authenticated information about the certificate owner. To be certified, a Certificate Authority must verify the identity of the certificate owner when it is issued.
In addition to SSL certification and encryption, credit card information and customer information given at the time of ordering is Down South's policy requires customer orders to be processed at the beginning of each day (except Sunday). Credit card numbers are deleted, and remaining order information is removed from the server.
"Online customers deserve to have confidence in any vendor they order from," said Sisson. "We want to treat our customers the way we ourselves would like to be treated."
